What is Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a viral infection that affects the liver, causing it to become inflamed and not work as effectively in the body.

Hepatitis C is a viral infection that can be treated with specific medication.

There are currently 6 different genotypes of hepatitis C. Genotypes 1 and 3 are the most common in Ireland. Genotype means the ‘genetic make-up of the virus’.

A viral hepatitis test is the best way to find out if you have an infection.
